FACILITATING CHANGE
Itâs not that we want to change, its that we have to. We know that everything around is in this world is changing, some things slowly and other things at the speed of light.
Facilitating Change is about acknowledging that change is inevitable and deciding to do something pro-active about it rather than waiting to be buried by it.
But in order to know where we are heading we must first decide who we want to be in the future. We must ask questions of ourselves. What do we really want to be doing? What kind of work do we see ourselves doing? How and where? Are we in our homes? Are we in new work centres? Are we in another country? What is a day in our life like 5, 10 or 20 years from now?
As a film director, Nikos lives in the future. Films begin as visions. Visions of a story, of characters and of situations. But in order for the vision to be realized, they must be articulated and shared. The first step is to create a script. The script contains information on locations, music, timing, design and most importantly the characters and their relationships with each other. Once we have a script, then it can be broken down, analysed, budgeted and begin its journey to becoming a finished film.
If we apply this thinking to our own lives and our own companies, we can see the benefits of taking the time to formulate "scripts" for our own visions. Once we can articulate what we want and who we want to become, we then can begin the process of breaking it down into steps, analysing, budgeting and beginning its journey towards actualization.
Thinking like a film director can bring about a clearly defined vision, and a clearly defined vision can bring about a clear process for change.
